While the EDX 8x42 is based on the proven roof prism system (Schmidt Pechan), the types of glass used in these binoculars have been completely redesigned. This innovative ED glass (Extra Low Dispersion) reduces color fringing even more than previously used ED glass. The user benefits from perfectly coordinated and brilliant colors. Newly developed for the EDX 8x42, the PHC140 phase correction coating prevents 99 percent of all unwanted wave optical effects and thus prevents even the slightest blurring.
With the EDX 8x42 device, the optical image works at the maximum resolution that can be reproduced according to the current state of the art. This is guaranteed by the special DDlucid coating, with which the Schmidt-Pechan roof prism is supplemented with two roof surfaces. This coating from the Japanese photo industry is a further development of the well-known and proven ELR coating (Extra Low Reflection). DDlucid is one of the most effective binocular coatings. Currently, only premium binoculars have a similarly sophisticated coating.
